- Kevin Marks
I saw you tweet that, Kevin, that's hilarious
- Stephen Pickering
Best comment on del.icio.us is on HN: http://news.ycombinator.com/item...

"Hello, hackers, look at your bookmarking service, now back to me, now back at your bookmarks, now back to me.
Sadly, your bookmarking service is not me, but if he didn't keep shutting off his service, then he could be like me.
Look down, back up, where are you? You don't have any bookmarks."

Yahoo! should have realized that their name was busted and started building the good brands they had: flickr, delicious, etc. Seems like they are driving the ship down and pulling as much cash as they can before they crash.
- Matt M (inactive)
Has there ever been a female guest on the Gillmor Gang?
- Andrew Hazlett
Laura Fitton has been on before, but otherwise, not that I recall
- Kevin Marks
Word Lens is app of the week - I remember the original demo hack for that
- Kevin Marks
Dell Streak is pretty horrible. The Samsung is unfortunately the best so far.
- Matt M (inactive)
The problem with the Android tablets is the monthly fee. Not to mention the fact that Apple really screwed the OEMs with their pricing.
- coldbrew
They run ARM AFAIK: ARM Cortex A8
- Matt M (inactive)
Android has been slow to scale up because the software needs to be improved at that scale. Even the Dell Streak at 5" isn't that great. The Samsung is even more of a stretch
- Matt M (inactive)
What do you expect Google to do, stand by and do nothing while apple locks up the market and threatens their business strategy?
- Stephen Pickering
LogEx: No. That Apple really put pressure on the other OEMs with their pricing being so low.
- coldbrew
Shouldn't Arrington be privy to the cap table since he's an investor in Seesmic?
- coldbrew
What do you guys think about the Cr-48 ChromeOS laptop? Should it have been a touch tablet instead?

Re: HTML5 for apps - we're doing mobile apps and HTML5 is nowhere near native at this point. It's getting close on the iPhone, but it's got a long way to go.
- Matt M (inactive)
a lot of the content apps on iPad are actually wrappers around HTML5 - as we saw at the ChromeOS launch
- Kevin Marks
You still need native code to shim lots of stuff that doesn't work well in HTML5 though: camera access, tabbed UIs, etc. It's much easier if you're building something like a newspaper app though - where you don't need to represent your app using as much standard UI as we have to do with gri.pe.

the thing that eats the battery for me is using the navigation...
- Kevin Marks
Navigation with screen on eats battery on Android. It's getting better with the latest maps build tho. My N1 loses 25% of battery after 30-60 mins of navigation with screen on. With screen off (just using the voice part), it's 10% or less. I try to plug it into the car while navigating because the interface is amazing.

Droid 2 has a keyboard that is actually usable, unlike the Droid 1
- Kevin Marks
If Verizon gets the iPhone, that is going to be the death of AT&T. I don't think it'll kill Android tho
- Matt M (inactive)
Maybe Steve Gillmor will put me on the Gillmor Gang. I have every tech toy those guys have
- Francine Hardaway
ChromeOS laptops shipped...

Also: HTML5 scrolling support sucks, except at the top-level document.
- Matt M (inactive)
Google Labs has a beta of BodyBrowser. It lets you look at a 3-dimentional 6 layered v iew of the body
- Francine Hardaway
ChromeOS does do wifi geolocation though.

Angry Birds makes more money on the Android Platform and ads than the iOs platform
- Stephen Pickering
Radio's going away bc the content is so horrible
- Stephen Pickering
I admit it - I use my.yahoo.
- John Taschek
Yahoo haven't shut down Pipes yet have they?..;). I'm a Greader fanatic, but we are far and few between.
- Phil Ashman
sorry robert, there is no way that for normal internet people, that "likes" or twitter "favorites" have replaced bookmarks - i don't even think I have ever went to facebook to look at the things i've liked.
- Allen Stern
and to steve - tell me the difference with "facebook = cloud" but "delicious /= cloud" ?
- Allen Stern
@stephen - AM is where the best radio content lives! It's like GG all day long.
- John Taschek
That is cool, Kevin, what does the percentage points mean? .007% is the top?
- Stephen Pickering
percent of books that use the word i think
- Kevin Marks
Yeah, John, but doesn't it seem like they have 15 minutes of commercials for every 5 minutes of content?
- Stephen Pickering
Oh, IC, thanks, Kevin. How can we not love google with things like this? Who else puts out this kind of cool info? heheheh
- Stephen Pickering
allen stern...disagree...there are TONS of Facebook users out there "liking"things, and Facebook has quite a few"normal" users
- Dale Lature
I've been playing around with the Google Chrome Tweetdeck extension. It's actually pretty good for a first crack.
- Phil Ashman
@kevin - change Internet to "Web" and the dates from 2008 to 2010 to show real curve: http://bit.ly/eLNvaN
- John Taschek
@stephen - true. commercials are annoying but they're not bad late evening.
- John Taschek
dale im not saying people aren't using the like button - i am saying people aren't using it as a bookmark service
- Allen Stern
They were mentioning the word "radio" in 1550?
- Stephen Pickering
nice john
- Kevin Marks
I always thought Diigo knocked knocked the socks off of Del.icio.us and so never got sucked in there.
- Phil Ashman
allen, I do.
- Dale Lature
Phil - Diigo should be going bigtime as a replacement for Delicious but I haven't heard anything from them or seen anything from them
- Allen Stern
using it a lot more than I did with the bookmarking systems
- Dale Lature
@stephen - well I screwed that up Stephen - unless HG Wells got into my head
- John Taschek
How about Evernote as a capture and bookmarking tool? I haven't looked back since leaving Delicious 2 years ago
- Jeff Grosse
@John hahahhaahahha
- Stephen Pickering
I have a tumblr but it seems its geared to re sharing and not original content
- Stephen Pickering
I'm waiting for my diaspora alpha

- Stephen Pickering
If you use invite code "scobleizer" on memolane you should get in.
- Robert Scoble

if Apple delivers me a better "shopping " environment and also delivers a butt-load of eyeballs I might think that a 30% premium is well worth it because I may get to make it up in volume
