eh, for good shoes that's not so bad - figure you don't grow out of them as an adult, and they can be resoled when needed for less than the cost of new shoes... sure.

To be fair, one pair of Ecco oxfords at full price, and a pair of Rockport boots on sale.

It's not bad for good leather repairable shoes. And I say that as someone who's not got a closet full of shoes.

I was thinking much the same thing: Two good pairs of Rockports (the only non-hiking shoes I buy) would run close to $250, but they last pretty well forever and they're GREAT walking shoes. (I'm probably on my 5th set of soles/heels for one pair.)
