Google to Site Owners: Tell Us About Your HTTPS URLs! by @mattsouthern - http://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-...
Google Webmaster Trends Analyst, Garry Illyes, posted on Google+ early this morning with a clear message to site owners: “please tell search engines about your HTTPS URLs!” According to a small scale analysis of indexed URLs, over 80% of HTTPS URLs that are eligible for indexing are instead being displayed as regular HTTP URLs because Google isn’t aware of the HTTPs variant. HTTPS URLs cannot become canonical (HTTP redirecting to HTTPS) until Google is notified about them. Instead, what most site owners are doing is using the HTTP URLs in sitemap files, in the rel-canonical and rel-alternate-hreflang elements. Why Phone Notifications Don't Belong On Your Wrist - http://readwrite.com/2015...
Would you want to check your watch as much as your phone? Start shopping for a smartwatch, and you'll notice—no matter what the make and model—that the ability to show notifications from your phone is touted as one of the major selling points. But is this feature actually such a benefit in everyday use? No need to take your phone out of your pocket, because your tweets are right there on your watch. Leave your mobile in your desk drawer, because your emails come straight to your wrist. Manage your texts without launching apps, unlocking screens or even typing. It's all here. There are tales of early Apple Watch testers barely using their iPhones because they're managing everything on their wrists. "I like to be able to look at my watch without pulling my phone out all the time," said Apple's Kevin Lynch during Monday's Apple Watch event, as he walked the audience through numerous app demonstrations. In many smartwatch sales pitches we're promised freedom from our smartphones: less... - Web2024

Could These NSA Cyber-Espionage Techniques Be Used Against You? - http://www.makeuseof.com/tag...
If the NSA can track you – and we know it can – so can cybercriminals. Theories and rumour and conjecture suggested that the security services had the means to monitor digital communications for years, but we never really knew for sure until Edward Snowden blew the whistle on the whole sorry situation. Since these revelations came to light, the NSA in America and GCHQ in the UK have become forever linked with the paranoia of population monitoring, using software to establish a virtual panopticon and look out for undesirable behaviour.
