All this talk about the new Apple-IBM partnership and no one’s mentioned Pink yet? For shame, Internet, for shame.

"I sipped my rosé, took a deep breath, enjoyed the magnificent landscape as one final, predominant thought swam into view: how? How can there be such a radical disconnect between Mr. Newport’s engorged portfolio, his fantastic insurance plan, low mortgage rate and grotesque corporate privilege – most of it born of the past six years – and Obama’s overall policy successes? Does he consider it all just a fluke? Dumb luck? Is he drunk on Limbaugh and Fox News, unable to see actual facts?" - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
RT @PeteAbe: Scoreboard at Fenway showing inconsolable fan crying because her team can’t score. Waiting to see if it’s a Brazil fan or Red Sox fan.
Feeling bad for Brazil right now. No way to exit the World Cup tournament. Can't imagine Rio will feel much like a party town tonight.
If by "runners' high" you mean the feeling of wanting to puke my lungs out after about 5 miles, then, yes I'm the Tommy Chong of running.

Since so many people now think that Melisandre is going to _____ Jon Snow, I'm pretty sure that means it won't happen. - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
Well, that's what it was, though. You 'fostered' your kids with either your enemy, or at least someone politically neutral, and if you didn't hold up your obligations they were forfeit. That didn't always mean death - sometimes that meant their parents were deposed, and they were put in charge, or they were married off to someone in the family to generate heirs down the line with multiple claims. - Jennifer Dittrich

I already planned to watch three matches today but at the half I was like 'When this is over I'll go to the farmers market!' and then I ruined everything. - team everyone
Great Game of Thrones Soccer Uniforms Prove We Need A Westeros World Cup - http://io9.com/great-g...
Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs.

Hope Solo pleads not guilty; court document describes a brawl | The Today File | Seattle Times - http://blogs.seattletimes.com/today...
"According to the court document, the teen said he was talking about theatrical productions he’s been in and explaining how he believes that a good actor has to have an “athletic state of mind” when Solo allegedly told him he would never be athletic because he was “too fat and overweight and crazy to ever be an athlete.” The two eventually got into a fistfight, the document says. When the boy’s mother tried to pull Solo off her son, Solo punched her in the face, according to court documents. Court documents also say the nephew broke a broom over Solo’s head and the teen pointed an “old gun that did not work” at Solo to try to get her to leave, but she would not leave and kept “circling like a shark.”" - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
Let’s face it: if Hope Solo was unattractive, she would've gotten Tonya Harding-ed by the media a long time ago.
Yeah, I get the feeling they passed on the first one because of her husband's previous reputation. This? Obviously all her. - Jennifer Dittrich

Gotta hand it to Amazon. Unlike the feature vomit of Android, generally, and Samsung, Fire Phone capabilities seem to have a real purpose.
Wyoming Says Teaching Climate Change Would Wreck The State's Economy - http://io9.com/wyoming...
"Earlier this year, the Wyoming legislature became the first in the U.S. to reject new science standards for schools. Lessons on climate change, lawmakers said, would brainwash kids against the state's coal and oil industries. Now, parents, scientists and even churches are fighting the decision." - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)

UK intelligence forced to reveal secret policy for mass surveillance of residents’ Facebook and Google use | Privacy International - https://www.privacyinternational.org/press-r...
The statement, from Charles Farr, the Director General of the Office for Security and Counter Terrorism, claims that the indiscriminate interception of UK residents’ Facebook and Google communications would be permitted under law because they are defined as ‘external communications’. Farr’s statement, published today by the rights organisations, is the first time the Government has openly commented on how it thinks it can use the UK’s vague surveillance legal framework to indiscriminately intercept communications through its mass interception programme, TEMPORA. The secret policy outlined by Farr defines almost all communications via Facebook and other social networking sites, as well as webmail services Hotmail and Yahoo and web searches via Google, to be ‘external communications’ because they use web-based ‘platforms’ based in the US. - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
