Okay - there's a big stats no-no in here, in that they are not truly comparing apples to oranges, BUT, there is a takeaway: a lot of content that's "worked" over the past few years is increasingly starting to "not work". Though how anyone could stop watching celebrity wife swap is beyond me - now THAT's entertainment.

Following up to yesterday's comments - if the Pay-TV industry can move fast enough to create products priced in line with streaming/OTT options, they can start doing damage control on some perception issues.

Things I am certain of, as they pertain to this post, in no particular order: (a) Twitter must improve everything about their experience to onboard and sustain growth with new users. (b) Twitter continues to innovate rapidly in the space, and may well stumble into something very excited around actionable TV sharing. (c) Facebook appears increasingly asleep at the wheel as it pertains to TV. (d) Ditto to Google, Yahoo, AOL, and everyone other than Microsoft/Xbox.

This is a tricky dilemma for the industry - the more consumers can compare $8.99/mo for oodles of streaming titles to $99/mo for 500 channels, the more dissatisfied (artificially) they'll be with the cable bundle. And since there's literally no possible way for the TV industry as a whole to properly communicate the actual benefits of the bundled approach, it should be red-flagged as a concern for many.
