Clevelanders Desperately Try To Hold On To Lebron James with version of "We Are the World" - 1010WINS.com - http://www.1010wins.com/VIDEO--...
This video is hilarious. Heard about it on the radio this morning. "Everyone from Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland on down joined together in a sing-along to the tune of "We Are the World." The song's lyrics include, "Please stay, LeBron. We really need you. No bigger market's gonna love you half as much as we do."" - Christopher Chung
They do make themselves out to be pretty pitiful, though. I'd feel pretty crummy if I were Lebron. "It's a choice you're making.... you're saving our downtown." - Christopher Chung
this is sort of sad - Jeannie Choi
"you're saving our downtown" ??? that is really sad. - Jeannie Choi
Though I have to commend their various public figures for being willing to be videotaped and recorded singing. Not sure if I can imagine Paterson or Bloomberg doing that. LOL - Christopher Chung
I'm not sure if it's the song they chose, but "pitiful" is the perfect word Chris. (Oh, they got someone from MTV's Real World to sing!) The production quality is also kinda meh. It'd be kind of awesome if NYers spoofed it and had Jay-Z and LeBron's other celeb buddies in it. I think Bloomberg might be down. He did go to Brett Favre's Jets intro ceremony. - Dan Hsiao
So, I can't imagine that the NY response is far off. The fast-talking newspeople on 1010 WINS, the AM radio news station here, were mocking it and playing some clips from it. First time I'd ever heard such derision from them. - Christopher Chung
