"Thanks for saying nice things! I started writing in Spring of 2010 and submitting the manuscript July 2012. So basically a year but it wasn't full time. I did MOST of the writing in the summers and was also still working at The Onion. as for what it was like: HARD in some places and super easy in others. The most interesting part was how the book changed during the writing. I thought it was going to be a most satirical book but it ended up being mostly memoir. I have Deb Stier (then of Harper and the one who brought me in) to thank for that. The second most interesting part was interviewing my black panel.
