Forcing the Twitter experience to be the same everywhere will hurt Twitter in the long run. There are all sorts of interesting experiences that the "Official" Twitter client stole from and added to the client on different platforms... the new experiences yet to be created.. heck, stuff like Flipboard.. will not exist in that kind of environment.

I see this happening all over these days with globalization and I don't know what the solution is. A company manages to rise above average mediocrity and become "the standard". Users/customers want the convenience of "one thing". That company then wins the lottery and makes windfall profits, not because of its continued excellence, but because they were succesful enough initially to become "the standard". Other examples: Facebook, Microsoft, Walmart, Apple. Technically, they may not be monopolies but "practically", they are.

Clive - when I went from Droid to Droid - my apps synced. When I went from Droid to Droid X, my apps also synced. Everything came through. I don't recall making any changes - it was all default.
