You see the kick the guy does at the 15-16 sec. mark? That's the kind of kick I received down there when I was sparring years ago... with my cousin. Same cousin also jabbed me in the throat with the tip of a Bo when were doing some exercises. Bastige.

Arlan, an accidental kick to the groin is usually the result of the fighter not getting his knee up high enough before delivering the kick. However, the Bo strike was most likely from a lack of focus and control, and I hope that you weren't seriously injured. It's the reason why most dojo's will not allow their students to begin training with weapons until they are at least a brown belt, and even then, there are always accidents.

haha Yeah, it was most certainly because he didn't get his knee high enough (besides my also approach to deliver a punch). The Bo hit wasn't painful, thankfully, as it was glancing. They were both accidents (we were advanced and competitive so stuff happens). I'm just reliving some fun times back in the day and I enjoy bringing it up and teasing him about it often.

I love sparring too, although it's been awhile since I've trained. BTW, the guy in the video looks like he was trying to make a fifty yard field goal attempt. It looks to me like he actually lifts the nutty guy off the ground for a split second!
