Mobils have a lot going for children But what age should a child have their own cellphone. There is a lot being said for these so called modern aids for keeping in touch with your children when they are not home, messageing like - I need to be picked up from so and so place, that they have a ride home, they will be late home, etc, etc. What did we do before cellphones came on the scene? Children under 14 should not be left alone, they should always have a baby sitter or a older person with them, so that gets away from the issue, that it is a way of knowing where they are, etc, etc, because the care giver will be the person to keep in touch with you if they need a ride home or what-ever. - David Finch
