Re: Scripting News: Hackathons are nonsense - http://scripting.com/stories...
"I don't think you really understand hackathons. It's not about great software at hackathons. It's about creating something interesting in a short period of time. It's about experiement with new technologies. It's about great ideas. It's never has to be great code, just an interesting idea. It's more an exercise of rapid prototyping than doing it right from the start. If you are not at a barcamp style hackathon, you will really be proofing out a minimal viable product in the 24-48 period. I've done more hackathons than I can count anymore (75+ more). There will be write up on me in Wired Magazine next month (http://www.wired.com/magazine/... ) I go for the people, the code, and the innovative ideas. I play with more tech and expand my skills. Nothing nonsense about them." - Zac Bowling
