At first it seemed so unrealistic. But it's actually more true to life - in terms of how people think & perceive life - than any other movie I can recall. And the music! The Portuguese David Bowie! And the use of color... so good. - Lo

Every character says *what they are actually thinking/feeling* at every moment. It's not realistic to how people actually speak, but it's so refreshing. The notion of such honesty is so radical it took me years to realize that's what was happening. My then-boyfriend didn't care much for it either, and I begged him to watch it again with me. He, too, came to love it, and that's when I knew I could marry him :P He got me the soundtrack for Christmas! - Lo
