My Dell Inspiron laptop battery does not seem to be charging. In Windows 7, it says that the battery is 27% available (plugged in, charging) but it never charges beyond that. Anyone have any ideas? This is the second replacement battery I've had to purchase for my laptop and I've only had this one for about 2 months. :(

Try a higher voltage adapater. I hear that works.

windows 7 RTM? or release candidate/beta/post-RC? my rather old centrino gateway wouldn't get past 48% in win7 and it was fine (linux battery info showed 98% when win7 showed 48%) though it's possible win7 took # of cycles into account (the battery gets 2 hours of life because it is old instead of the 4 hours it got when it was new)

Thanks for the response Roberto and mjc. I'm using the release candidate. Yeah I hope it is just a buggy display but when I dual booted back into Windows XP the other day it did just die suddenly when it was on the battery, no warnings or anything - so I am a little concerned. :(

Thanks Roberto. Maybe I'll see if I can borrow another adapter and see if it makes a difference.

It's very frustrating. I generally always use my laptop on AC power and I've had so many issues with the batteries.

Ditto, my battery is virtually dead, the laptop will not work without AC plugged in.
