"The point of the research is that low vitamin d levels are associated with a greater risk of dementia. And, this is directly associated with older people. There is also a lot of research that shows that many people over 60 have trouble absorbing vitamin d into their system even if they eat a good diet. The odds of living with dementia increase as we age. For example, almost 50 percent of persons living with Alzheimer's are 85 or older. The simple truth is many people die before that age and as a result are never diagnosed with dementia. So longevity is also an issue. Simple fact.
