As the old Mortal Kombat proverb says, "All Too Easy". But still pretty darned entertaining, the interview and, as almost always with A.V. Club, the comments. A little explanation: "A huge proponent of transcendental meditation (or TM), the cerebral Lynch has a very personal relationship with music, so much so that The A.V. Club was requested to refrain from actually saying the title “It’s A Small World” throughout the entire interview. A code word for the song, “Flappy,” was predetermined before the interview."

The collision between high and low here is great. As several of the commenters say, I only wish that he could have explained in more detail just what it is that makes this thing so awful (and I definitely agree that it is awful). It's a little like the 33 1/3 series book on a Celine Dion album. My own experience with the song started when I was dressed up as a "Hawaiian" girl (totally not PC) to dance to this song in preschool. That is literally one of my earliest memories. I'm probably a little scarred.

"[I]t got stuck in my head, and it was like having a disease." I love this.

I'm dying all over again reading that quote, Stephen. I've gotta look away...

I loved this interview, but the comments are amazing.
