Truly. I was never afraid to travel in Mexico before, but I am starting to think twice about it now. So much violence and unrest happening in the country right now. Not just on the border and Chiapas anymore. - Jenny

k, this was in Taumilipas- not nearly as violent as Juarez. I wouldn't step foot in Juarez if you paid me. Between 10-12 murders there a day. - Jenny

Zulema, where I did my graduate research in Hidalgo, the streets were patrolled by the federales to prevent citizens from uprising. I've seen quite a bit of Mexico, but nothing I would call a touristy place. - Jenny

JA, yes, I did some birding there when I was in south Texas for a field trip. It's unfortunate that the drug cartels and the violence that follows is radiating so quickly. - Jenny
