Just spent a small fortune on these boots so I can go work on a fire. Luckily, I can also use them for climbing mountains. #fuckyeahsilverlinings - Jenny
The color is nice, at least. - Katy S
Katy- I am worried about getting hell from all the fire guys- they all wear black or brown "traditional" fire boots. I'mma stick out like a turd in a punchbowl. What else is new? - Jenny
That's their problem. They'll just be jealous of your snazzy new boots. For the fire stuff, do they give you a list of certain brands/styles to look for, or are certain boots marketed for that work? - Katy S
Katy- there are certain brands that are more popular than others, but I didn't want to to spend $500-600 on boots that I would only wear on fires. There are federal interagency wildland fire specs for boots, including fire-resistant Vibram soles, leather uppers, at least 8 inches tall, etc. These mountaineering boots have only been acceptable for the past 3 years and don't have universal acceptance, if you know what I mean. However, I am much more likely to climb mountains than work on fire lines. I am now on the short list for working on a crew next week, so I needed to get something ASAP. - Jenny
Thanks! I hope they won't be too difficult to break in! - Jenny
