"Your professor should not be teaching. The use of arbitrary "yes/no?" "gotcha!" games to validate (what appears to be) a personally held belief has no place in an academic setting. This isn't dialogue. Nor is this evidence of someone having even minimal familiarity with a topic like "gender roles in society," which is a HUGE area studied by thousands of scholars from many disciplines (sociology, mass media, political science, archaeology, to name a few). Anyway, the point of my rant is that just because a professor is a professor doesn't mean they actually know something. Be more critical. Don't let anyone disrespect you as a student by faking competence. Demand more. Ask questions. And always expect professors to incorporate theory and research as a starting point for class discussion. It's their job. Your professor sounds like an idiot."
