"Lindsey, I think based on everything you have identified in this post, there are few reasons why spouses should set up a business together. I cannot see a reason to strain or disrupt a relationship on the basis of making money. It's just not practical. I guess you would argue that it is hard for someone like myself who isn't in business with a spouse to argue against your views. It's just something I have learnt over the last few years from others that it's safer to keep business out of personal relationships and find suitable business partners who aren't so connected to your life.
