Why is there no collation that treats /all/ accents as different but is still case insensitive?!?!

So turns out that utf8_unicode_ci collates ñ and n. Damn you UTF8.
OK maybe this is a MySQL error. It happens when I connect straight to the DB.
You know, for something that's meant to be hip and modern, Rails is pretty crap at UTF8.
Only suggestion I have found is to add case sensitivity because that stops it searching using BINARY, but then Cuña will be allowed.
RoR question #2: If I do Word.find_by_word("cuna") it will return a Word model with the word 'cuña'. Um. No. Any ideas?
Solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questio... Ruby 1.9. has \w mapped to [A-Za-z0-9_], use \p{Word}
(this is Ruby 1.9.2p180)
in Rails, the regexp /\w+/u against 'cuña' will match 'cu', it things ñ isn't a letter. Solution?!
Looks like the baby birds are very close to fledging! http://www.ustream.tv/channel... some have already left!
