Two problems with that statistic: one is that wind turbines are still a relatively small portion of energy generation. As its share of energy production grows, the number of birds killed by turbines is likely to grow unless the energy industry can reduce bird kills per turbine. The second is that there is a difference between killing common songbirds (as cats do) and killing Golden Eagles (as some wind farms do).
