Evan Bayh and the Democrats: Down and out | The Economist - http://www.economist.com/world...
"“I DO not love Congress,” Evan Bayh declared on Monday February 15th. “I will not, therefore, be a candidate for re-election to the United States Senate this November.” Mr Bayh, Indiana’s two-term Democratic senator, warned against reading too much into his decision. But over-interpretation is what Washington does best. The chattering classes erupted. Mr Bayh was nervous about his re-election. He never even liked the Senate. He wants to foil Democrats’ chances in Congress. In his announcement he said “I’m an executive at heart”, so he must want to be president." - Frankie Warren

Economist Debates: Obama - http://www.economist.com/debate...
"When he won the Democratic nomination, Barack Obama said he was "absolutely certain" that future generations would remember it as "the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless ... when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal ... when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth."" - Frankie Warren
The iPad that launched a thousand apps - Apple 2.0 - Fortune Brainstorm Tech - http://brainstormtech.blogs.fo...
"Historically, Flurry has measured surges in new application starts within its system in anticipation of new device launches, including for the Motorola Droid and iPhone 3GS. As such, we hypothesize that excitement generated by Apple’s iPad event in January is driving this growth. For developers who get a jump on customizing their applications for the iPad, there may be an opportunity to stand out early on, and earn more downloads." - Frankie Warren

"AS they marvel at Apple’s new iPad tablet computer, the technorati seem to be focusing on where this leaves Amazon’s popular e-book business. But the much more important question is why Microsoft, America’s most famous and prosperous technology company, no longer brings us the future, whether it’s tablet computers like the iPad, e-books like Amazon’s Kindle, smartphones like the BlackBerry and iPhone, search engines like Google, digital music systems like iPod and iTunes or popular Web services like Facebook and Twitter." - Frankie Warren
Keeping the lid on - The Boston Globe - http://www.boston.com/sports...
"“The significance of the game from my viewpoint was that a lot of players have not won a trophy here at BC, our freshmen and sophomores,’’ said Eagles coach Jerry York. “So to win a trophy, I think it’s just a catalyst for our club. The juniors and seniors have won a lot of championships but the freshmen and sophomores have not been successful winning a championship, so that’s a really important phase of our program. I thought the game itself, if there was a classic Beanpot, that would be one of them.’’" - Frankie Warren
Inland Empire Weekly - Weatherbox - http://www.ieweekly.com/cms...
"Keeping a young band together can apparently be hard to do. Weatherbox made its full-length debut in 2007 with American Art, but only frontman Brian Warren remains. In fact, the San Diego band has had such a rotating lineup that Warren decided not to list the players on last year’s follow-up, The Cosmic Drama. His revolving cast of musicians is said to include members of Japandi and Mansions, though drummer Drew Bent appears to be a regular these days. Warren did name the players for his upcoming tour, however, in a recent MySpace post." - Frankie Warren

"Hello little antelope, would you like to play with us? Coming from three deadly cheetahs, it's the kind of invitation that's best refused - but amazingly, this impala escaped unscathed from its encounter. Luckily for the youngster, it seems these three male cheetahs simply weren't hungry." - Frankie Warren

Row 44 strikes Wi-Fi deal with Southwest Airlines | Technology | Los Angeles Times - http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technol...
"Row 44 of Westlake Village has landed a contract with Southwest Airlines to provide Wi-Fi service on the airline’s fleet of more than 540 planes. It is a tremendous boost for the small, 25-employee firm, which had been in a testing phase with Southwest since last year. Southwest said it would begin installing Row 44’s equipment in the second quarter at a rate of 15 to 25 aircraft per month." - Frankie Warren

Daring Fireball: The iPad Big Picture - http://daringfireball.net/2010...
"There was a meta-message in today’s Apple event, not about the iPad in particular, but rather about Apple as a whole. Jobs’s brief preamble included a bit of extra emphasis on the fact that the Apple now generates over $50 billion per year in revenue. (Apple also emphasized this $50 billion revenue thing in their PR two days ago announcing their Q1 2010 financial results.) He also said that when you consider MacBooks as “mobile” devices, Apple generates more revenue from mobile hardware than any other company in the world; the three competitors he singled out were Sony, Samsung, and Nokia. The adjective he used was “bigger”." - Frankie Warren
Google Voice Does An End Run Around Apple And Shows Up In The iPhone’s Browser (Screenshots) - http://www.techcrunch.com/2010...
"Remember the dustup last summer over Apple’s rejection of the Google Voice app for the iPhone? Everyone was pointing fingers and even the FCC got involved. Michael was so upset that he quit the iPhone rather than give up his Google Voice. Well, now he can come back because Google Voice is finally on the iPhone via its browser, and Apple can’t really do anything about it.." - Frankie Warren
This is cool! It shows Apple cant prevent what can show up through the browser? Probably it will set a precedent for other rejected apps too... - TrafficBug
One significant change however, is the new web app dials a local number, rather than utilizing the call back method of the previous low-fi site. Bells and whistles come at a price. - Frankie Warren

Approval Typically Falls 5 Points in a President's Second Year - http://www.gallup.com/poll...
"Most of the last eight elected U.S. presidents, starting with Dwight Eisenhower, saw their approval rating drop in the second year of their presidency -- on average by five percentage points. According to Gallup historical data, only George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush avoided a second-year drop; Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan experienced the greatest declines in public approval from year one to year two." - Frankie Warren
